Changeling is a term used to describe a legendary creature that has taken the place of a mortal child. The child is usually taken for two main reasons; serving a different legendary creature or love of the child. A stock may also be put in the place of a child. A stock is an enhanted piece of wood that will look and act like the mortal child but will quickly grow sick and die, making the mortal family and friends think the child has died, rather than have been kidnapped.
